Robot Exploration – Summer Special Exhibit

The IQhub is hosting a Special Exhibit this Summer, Robot Exploration!  We are excited to have exhibits from different school robotics programs, as well as a couple of displays from Consumers Energy and Lansing Community College!!!  Kids can use an iPad to how to program robots for an obstacle course or push buttons to watch a robotic lever move.  There will be videos to learn more about robotics in schools and to check out this year’s high school robotic competition.  The IQhub hours will be extended to 8:00pm for three micro events on June 15^th, July 25^th and August 24^th!  Please see click on Robotics Event Flyer for details.     For more information please contact the IQhub at (989) 227-3847 or IQ.hub@agroliquid.com.

Art Explosion – Winter Special Exhibit

A guest favorite of the IQhub, held from November through February each year! The three-month long celebration of the arts includes a winter market in early December, a special evening event in January and a grand finale Artist Meet & Greet event in February.

Native American Ways

In the summer 2022, the IQhub hosted a special exhibit on Native American history and culture! The collection of displays was called Native American Ways. Central Michigan University’s Clarke Library loaned the IQhub their exhibit on Native American Treaties, with a focus on Michigan territories. On display was a life-sized birch bark hut, maple sugar exhibit and other agricultural items from Cheboygan, as well as an eye-opening boarding school exhibit from the Museum of Ojibwa Culture in St Ignace. Wenonah Bird of Mount Pleasant had a beautiful display of Native American Regalia – jingle dresses, ribbon dresses, authentic bead work examples and beaded moccasins that she hand sews. From the Elijah Elk Cultural Center Seventh Generation Program of Mt Pleasant, the IQhub had on loan various items such as snow shoes, a lacrosse stick, drums and a medicine bag. Also, historical photography from the Library of Congress were on display.  The IQhub also hosted a special family night that included Native American dancers and drummers. One of the most beautiful things about Native American culture is the unique quality of Native American dance. To the untrained eye, these Native American dances may look like nothing more than interesting movements designed to match the rhythm of a song. On the contrary, dances in this culture each have a deeper purpose and significance. Native Americans use dance as a way to connect with each other and honor longstanding traditions. After each performance, the dancers explained the meaning of the dance.

Aviation Exploration

This was the third rotating guest exhibit featured in the IQhub.  There were real places, RC planes, uniforms, memorabilia and stories of dedicated men
and women in the aviation industry.  We hosted a large family fun day for this exhibit, containing flying kites, birds of prey, an observation beehive, paper airplanes, a mobile planetarium, flying RC planes, and an aerial  spray demonstration.

Muscles, Music & More

This was the second rotating guest exhibit featured in the IQhub.  There were muscle cars and motorcycles, musical instruments and memorabilia, model trains and old traveling luggage, an antique toy collection, metal art and even soap box derby cars.  We hosted two community events for this exhibit: A Color Cruise (small antique car show) and a Children’s Christmas Concert.

Military Heroes

This was the first rotating guest exhibit featured in the IQhub.  It was a tribute to the men and women who served and are still serving in the military.  There were real military vehicles, uniforms, medals, posters and stories.  The IQhub hosted Dick Thelen, the survivor of the USS Indianapolis, to be a guest speaker and the main event for this guest exhibit.
