Thank you to the 248 people that attended the IQhub’s hosting of Dick Thelen, World War II veteran and survivor of the U.S.S. Indianapolis! It was so great to hear him talk about his experiences.
The St Johns Color Guard began the program, his son Dave accompanied him, and State Rep Tom Barrett presented him with a Legislative tribute thanking him for his service. The Navy Operational Support Center (Detroit) presented him with a paddle as a tribute. Community members and many veterans asked questions, and we all enjoyed hearing Dick speak.
Dick finished with, “Would I do it all over again? Yeah! I’d join the Navy all over again. It was educational. Sure, I went through a lot. But I never forgot it, and it made me a better person.”
