Science Professional Development Day – Dec 10 ~NEW DATE~


 

Science Professional Development Day is coming up – December 10th from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.!  (THIS IS A NEW DATE!)

– 1130 S. DeWitt Rd, St Johns, MI 48879 at the IQhub
– FREE for Kindergarten to 12th Grade Educators
– Choose between K – 5th Grade or 6th – 12th Grade for the day (Each option will grant teachers 5 SCECHs)
– Lunch provided by the IQhub (If you have dietary restrictions, please bring your own lunch)

Please bring all your teacher information… It is REALLY important that you have your PIC number, so you can receive your SCECHs for the day.

8:00 – 10:30 Michigan Agriculture in the Classroom Educator Workshop (SCECHs = 2.5)
• Source Search lesson from National Ag in the Classroom Matrix
o ES-NCSS 3: People, Places, and Environments
o ES-NCSS 7: Production, Distribution, and Consumption

• Setting up ‘MyBinder’ and searching lessons on the National Ag in the Classroom website
o Lessons are aligned to NGSS standards

• My American Farm app: Lesson plans, Career Videos, Classroom games
o Lessons and activities are aligned to NGSS and other curriculum standards

10:30 – 11:30 Lunch (Provided by the IQhub) & IQhub Explore

11:30 – 12:30 “Field to Fitness” – Speech and Presentation by Emily Crambell and AgroLiquid Nutrition & Fitness Person (SCECHs = 1)
• Discuss the importance of how healthy environments benefit human health
o Aligned to NGSS standards 12:30 – 2:00 “Healthy Bodies and Environments” – Presentation and hands on workshop by Emily Crambell & Ernie Luttig (SCECHS = 1.5)

• Increase awareness of healthy lifestyles impacted by positive environmental choices

9:00 – 10:30 “Improving Soil Quality through Vermicomposting” – Presentation and hands on workshop by Emily Crambell & Ernie Luttig (SCECHs = 1.5)
• Increase awareness of healthy lifestyles impacted by positive environmental choices affecting soil health
