Summer Day Camps


Learning in the Summer is FUN!

 

The IQhub offers a fun learning opportunity for students during the summer.  Please check back to see what is in store for 2020!

 

Here’s what we did in July 2019…

Students had the opportunity to learn hands-on about agriculture and the environment, as well as some things about aviation, thanks to our guest exhibit.

Camp Details:

  • Day Camps are first come first serve, with 30 openings available, in July.
  • The target range for students is ages 8-11 or current 2nd – 5th graders.
  • Registration fee is $25 per student, for one day or $40 per student, for two days (non-refundable).
  • Camps starts at 8:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm. (Please call if an earlier drop off time is needed.)
  • Each student receives a camp T-shirt, rocket kit, lunch and transportation to the last session.
  • Students are to dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for some walking, as they will be outdoors a couple hours.

Monday, July 15th

8:00 am –  8:10   Check-In, Introductions & Expectations

10:00 am – 10:20   Finish Gluing Rockets & Snacks

10:20 am – 10:50     Session #1: Birds of a Feather

10:50 am – 11:00   Make Plaster Leaves

11:00 am – 11:45   Lunch & Travel to Research Farm using Clinton Transit

11:45 am – 12:30   Feather Painting

12:30 pm – 1:15    Poultry Tour & Tips on Raising Birds

1:15 pm – 1:45    Session #2: The Incredible Edible Egg

1:45 pm – 2:00    Snack, Wrap-Up & Sign-Out

 

Wednesday, July 17th

8:00 am – 8:10    Check-In & Review Expectations

8:10 am – 8:50   Paint Rockets & Plaster Leaves

8:50 am – 9:50    IQhub Scavenger Hunt & Trivia

9:50 am – 9:55    Snack & Stretch Break

9:55 am – 10:25    Session #1: Tree Cookies

10:25 am – 11:00   Launch Rockets

11:00 am –  11:35    Lunch & Travel to St. Johns City Park using Clinton Transit

11:35 am – 12:30    Session #2: Tree Types and Leaf Collecting

12:30 pm – 1:00    Compass & Pacing Activity

1:00 pm – 1:45    Explore Woods & ID Trees

1:45 pm – 2:00    Snack, Wrap-Up & Sign-Out

** Lunch will be from Subway; if a special meal is required, please pack a lunch for your student **

 

Camp Transportation:

  • Drop students each morning at the IQhub, located within AgroLiquid, 1130 S. Dewitt Rd., St. Johns. They will remain at the IQhub until after lunch.
  • After lunch, Clinton Transit (blue bus) will transport student to another learning location. Parents will need to fill out the Clinton Area Transit Youth Ride Registration Form giving permission for the students to ride the bus.
  • Pick up on Monday, July 15th will be at the North Central Research Station located at 5605 Findlay Rd., St. Johns.
  • Pickup on Wednesday, July 17th will be at the St. Johns City Park located at 805 W. Park St., St. Johns.

Please Note:  This camp is geared towards students who have a passion for science, especially Agriculture and the Environment.  Students will need to dress accordingly for the weather and be prepared to be outside for several hours. Students must also be able to walk for a mile or more.
